Pupils gather to remember the fallen
Our pupils joined Passmores Academy and Purford Green Primary at the Potter Street Memorial to celebrate Armistice Day on Monday.
The pupils and members of the local community gathered to listen to the service led by Father James Rodley. Joining in with prayers, a hymn and singing the National Anthem, the children learnt what Remembrance Day is and what is being commemorated. As a mark of respect, two minutes’ silence followed the Last Post and pupils laid wreaths on behalf of each school.
Attending the ceremony meant the children could read the names of the fallen soldiers commemorated on the monument, providing a more personal connection and enabling them to gain a greater understanding of the significance of Armistice Day and why it is so important to our community.
